Math Work Stations: Chapter 5

MWS Chapter 5

Here's a list of books for various skills across all curriculum. You'll find math on pages 3-6.
Skill Books

Last week I posted Batter Up. This game works on place value through 1000.

Are You Ready 4 Doubles Connect Four reinforces doubles math facts.

100 Hungry Ants will support students learning to use place value on a 100 chart for an additon strategy.

Ballyhoo will build on students practice with the 100's chart. Students will combine various strategies to move through a hundreds game board.

Splish Splash! Students will begin working on subtraction facts.

Each of the games have been linked to Common Core. If you are in Florida, you'll find the benchmark in my notes posted above.

Are you ready for a giveaway?

Learning Resources has offered their Minute Math Electronic Flash Card for a giveaway to align with Debbie Diller's Chapter 5.  Don't you just love it?!?!

Students work with partners to solve math facts fluently

and remained engaged throughout the entire rotation.

This electronic flashcard provided practice with addition and subtraction facts.  Depending on the fluency and number correct, a level would unlock and present more challenging operations.  I love the reinforcement of commutative property, the color coded frames, and the ability to time or reduce anxiety with the untimed mode.

Independence

Math Work Stations: Chapter 4

MWS Chapter 4

Hayley Bishop of Bishop's Blackboard has a wonderful set of place value flashcards in her TpT store for FREE.  I downloaded, printed, and use in my work stations.

During district training, I received a Skills and Concepts alignment document developed by RTI Teaching Connections of UCF and funded by the State of Florida. An additional document created was the Concept and Skills Checklist.  See notes above for additional details...

Laney's Post

Laney Sammons created this post in my Guided Math yahoo group.

One essential component of the Guided Math framework is Math Workshop. Students are engaged in working independently at math stations as teachers either work with small groups or confer with students individually. Debbie Diller's new book on math work stations is a valuable resource for teachers as they establish these stations.

Several teacher bloggers have joined together to do a book study on her book. In addition, they will be giving away a free copy of her book and a free copy of my Guided Math book (compliments of Shell Education).
